Why I Do What I Do

Massage gives purpose and meaning to my life through service to others, keeps me in my body, engages me in life, and provides the opportunity to grow and learn. It is an appropriate challenge to learn skills and treatments to better serve my clients, and to stay up-to-date on advances in the field.

My Story

My name is Jacqueline Davis. I am a retired educator who has interests in health and fitness, as well as diverse cultures, languages, and the perspectives that those languages embody. I am interested in the intricacy of science related to nature, healing and the human body.

As a devotee of lifelong learning, I have experience in a wide variety of fields and disciplines such as public service, including transportation, tour guiding, law enforcement; swimming instruction; education from secondary school teaching, teaching English abroad and language teacher training; sports and fitness through yoga, tai chi, and exercise for health; and nature, such as gardening, farming, hiking, and work and leisure in national parks.

Body work compliments these areas as this service incorporates listening to clients; discerning supportive evidence from visual, body, and verbal cues from clients; choosing among treatment options to meet client needs; and educating clients to prevent further injury, and to empower clients to seize the day to strengthen and improve their own health to get a New Lease on Life.

Practice Philosophy

To be entrusted to touch another person whether figuratively or literally is a privilege and an honor. With my extended work experience in public service, education, and self-employment, I strive to contribute my energy to the flow of life through engaging with clients and educating them through bodywork.

What better way to be involved in life than to work with special populations to relieve discomfort and help the body to heal itself?

Ortho-Bionomy is a holistic approach to relief that works with the proprioceptic aspects of the nervous system to cue the self-corrective reflexes inherent in everyone. Ortho-Bionomy uses gentle positioning and movements that can allow tension patterns that are creating pain to relax, reset, and reorganize from within.

Acupressure is helpful for a number of painful chronic injuries and conditions such as headaches, migraines, menopause, fibromyalgia, and many others.

Pregnant clients can get relief from expected symptoms of each trimester and those following birth to support the mother and help her provide a healthy environment for her baby before and after birth.

Total Body Balancing stems from osteopathy and is a gentle rhythmic treatment that begins with assessment to direct treatment to target areas of imbalance and restriction that deplete the body's vitality. It works with all the body systems, muscles, joints, and fascia (D'Ambrogio).
